Monogramoflage + Movie Review
I answer this with a question: What is more fashionable than a man in a black rubber suite?
Okay now seriously I just had to write about this movie, as I know this is one of the most anticipated movies of 08. But it is my MOST anticipated movie of the year, which is showing the Batman geek I am that it was on my must see list before Sex and the City.
People that know me know I love Batman, to me he is the best superhero of all. I was so excited and was waiting in anticipation for last night to arrive so I could watch it.
I was not disappointed, it lived up to all my expectations plus more.
IMO characters:
Now I do realise Batman Begins and The Dark Knight where not in the same vein as the previous Batman's. They were written and produced to be more visually realistic, but I couldn't help but make comparisons to the previous actors.Christian Bale (Batman) - I was not very impressed in Batman Begins by Bale, I thought he lacked what was needed to pull off Bruce Wayne and Batman, he to me didn't radiate that suave businessman who had that kind but arrogant nature that the previous Batman's (Michael Keaton and Val Kilmer) pulled off so well.
The Dark Knight changed my opinion on him. I thought he was brilliant, he was more likable as Bruce Wayne and more "fierce" as Batman.
Heath Ledger (The Joker) - This character is so deeply disturbing and frightening, and Heath ledger was able to make you feel these emotions, while still having his comedic lines and making you laugh. Playing a character such as the joker is a very demanding role, and I think he did an absolutely phenomenal job.
Maggie Gyllenhaal (Rachael Dawes) - I thought I was going to like Gyllenhaal as Rachael, but I have to say I actually preferred Katie Holmes. I think Gyllenhaal wasn't likable at all, a bit forgetful in my opinion. I didn't connect to her character, and by this I mean that I didn't even cry when she was blown up which is a big thing for me as I cry when anyone dies in a movie! Even though Rachael is meant to be a ballsy character which I think Gyllenhaal showed, she didn't show that sweet connection that Holmes seemed to have with Bruce Wayne in Batman begins.
Aaron Eckhart (Harvey Dent/Two-Face) - I loved Harvey Dent, even though he was a politician he was likable and this to me is hard to pull off ;) His character was likable and believable, and I thoroughly enjoyed Eckhart's performance.
However was shocked to see his coin flipping at the beginning of the movie, and of course his name Harvey which made me realise he was destined to be Two-face. I didn't like his portrayal of two-face, didn't really feel too evil to me.
Michael Caine (Alfred) - While I also didn't like Alfred in Batman Begins, as I was comparing him to Michael Gough who played Alfred in the older Batmans. I tried not to compare him, as I honestly don't believe Caine did the job like Mr Gough who was so serious yet sweet, likable, funny but respected as Alfred. Blocking previous performances out, I thought Caine did a good job this time around, a few more comedic lines tossed in made him a bit more likable and memorable!
Gary Oldman (Comm Gordon) - Ok another moment of didn't like him as much as the other comm Gordon. But honestly I think his character came out more in the Dark Knight and I could warm to him more, I really liked him as Comm Gordon and especially liked when he got promoted :) Wish there were more police out there like good old commissioner Gordon.
Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox) - What can be said, totally lovable character. So funny! Loved the moment when the Wayne enterprise client wanted to out Batman.
This movie was phenomenal, one of my all time favourites.
I rate this movie 10/10.
But hold on... something was missing... WAYNE MANOR. My mansion candy, dream home hehe Sure it will be rebuilt for the next one ;)
