The Brasserie By Phillipe Mouchel (Melbourne) - Restaurant review
What a beautiful dining experience! My boyfriend and I wanted a nice romantic dinner, and while we frequent Crown we had not dined at Phillipe Mouchel's before.
I really felt like French cuisine and when I did a search was pleasantly surprised there was two French restaurants in Crown (the other being Guillame Bistro, which I must still try in Melbourne).

When I made reservations the gentlemen told me we would be sitting on the mezzanine, and it was perfection. Very private, with only 30 other diners sitting in the same area.
The ambience was beautiful, seductive lighting and French language decorating the art on the walls.

When we were seated we were perusing the wine list, but the semilier suggested what we should order. I wanted a French wine, but he suggested a wine from Coonawarra (I love wines from this region) so I thought why not.
The wine chosen was Hollick Ravenswood Cabernet Sauvignon 2001, and it would have to be in my top 5 wines I have tasted. Just perfection, so smooth!

When it came time to order it was quite difficult as there were so many tasty sounding meals on the menu.
I chose in the end one of the specials for entree which was the French onion soup, so rich in flavour with tiny shreddings of onion and when you thought the flavour couldn't get any more intense you dipped your spoon in to find the most beautiful melted french cheese. It was devine.

For main I chose the Oven-roasted fillet of gold band snapper, crustacean fumet, chick pea purée. The fish was cooked to perfection, and the tastes just complimented each other perfectly.

A special mention of my boyfriends entree Tasmanian cured salmon, spelt blini, horseradish crème fraîche and condiments. This dish alone is worth a visit to Phillipe Mouchel! That's all that can be said.

The staff was friendly and very professional.
The prices are what you expect from a premium fine dining restaurant and worth every penny.
9/10!
